I would like to thank all of you for visiting my website. We slowly grow in visitors each month. There are somethings that you can do to help this website. First of all, pray for us. We need your prayers. It seems like there are constantly problems in our family and house that frustrate my putting up modules each week. I am a missionary in Mexico, and the power goes out for a day or two at a time, our internet connection goes out, or goes extremely slow, etc. Pray for us.
Secondly, if you know of good website that have public domain works, please send me the link (davidcox@davidcox.com.mx).
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. –1Tim 5:18
Thirdly, please consider sending me a donation to help encourage me in this work. These donations help pay for my expenses, and my two kids are helping me with the website, and those donations go in part to them. Things were very “slim” over this Christmas. So if God moves you to send a donation… use the Paypal form on the sidebar, or if you are okay with sending a check via regular mail to our home church (Orlando Bible Church in Orlando Florida), then visit our donation page and send us a donation mentioning it is for the David Cox family.
CORRECTION: I erroneously put down that there were no donations in November-December, when in fact there were. Thanks to (December givers) Lawrence Yang, Jerry Van Dijk, Anthony Wheeler, Henry Garcia, (November givers) Ernest Thomas, Kenneth Woods, Matthew Atack, Gregory Wilde, Terry Schleyer, and T.L. Hughes, and Konstantinos.
Why look around this site? Because…
- 1500+ free books for the download. We broke the 1500 book mark!
- As of January 30,2011 we have had about 15,550 downloads of modules from this site!
- Approximately $30,000 of dollars of books for the taking, free…
- Example: Pulpit Commentary Module in paperback on Amazon costs $833 dollars. 1602 people have download our module for free. Collectively $1,334,466 dollars was saved! Over a million dollars on a single commentary set module!
- Example: The June MegaPack was downloaded 1950 times so far, and it contains 114 books at 37MB. If each book costs an average of $25 x 144 books, that is $2850 that each person that downloads it saves. That comes to a total savings for God’s people of $5,557,500 dollars. This is just the June monthly downloads!
- Commerical quality bookstore books. Most are out of print, older books, but a good number are recent works by modern scholars.
- Excellent study material for Christians and pastors.
- Fully searchable across the entire library!
- Online organization to find what you want!
- New books added daily.
How can you help us?
- First of all, by just praying for us. We are not without our problems, and prayer is the first and most important thing we need.
- Secondly, you can help us by telling your friends, and especially those that preach or teach the Bible about our library. The one thing we really lack in is a good user base. Please talk up TheWord software program, and refer our site to as many people as possible.
- Thirdly, you can donate to us via Paypal, or through a regular missionary donation to our ministry. How to Donate to our Ministry
- Fourly, consider suggesting our ministry to your church for being added to your missionaries. We are in the work of door-to-door evangelization, and I am a pastor of a church plant here in Mexico City. This library website is just resources I accumulate for my studies and sermons. I also have written around 80 books in Spanish (which are downloadable and free, and not commercially printed), and 225 Spanish Tract Titles (here are the English Tract Titles).
- You can also donate any books you have in electronic format. I cannot upload any books under copyright unless you are the author, but if you have books (PDF, e-Sword, RTF, etc or in TheWord format), then I can convert them and upload them.
- Please note. Pastors, I would greatly love it if you could put together a module for me of your sermons and teachings. Although you may not think many people would like this or enjoy it, the whole purpose of a library is to have a lot of resources at hand so that you can easily and quickly come across some tidbit of information or a page or sermon that has exactly what you are looking for. Please consider sharing your labors with the world. Although most pastors die and their sermons and writings and labors are lost except what impact they have had on the few people who were in their church (and awake and remember the teachings), but those who have them in a book form have a chance of continuing their ministry after their death. For those who have their works in a TheWord module, it will probably float around the Internet for decades if not longer! Keep your ministry active after you have passed on!
Landmark Books on this site
The Pulpit Commentary was the first module to break 1000 downloads, and now F.B. Meyers Library of Works v2 has also broke 1000 downloads (actually it is at 1254 downloads, but I just noticed it). That has 39 books by Meyers with probably a street value of $20 each, so the entire library is worth around $975. That is about $1,222,650 worth of books that 1254 Christian have received over this past few months from just that single module download! Sir Robert Anderson’s Library (13 works) is also approaching with 762 downloads ($247,650 dollars). The MegaPack (97 books at about $35/book) for July has over 1013 downloads now ($3,439,135 dollars saved). August 23, 2011
I am not quite sure how many books/modules we have available for download on the site, because we have libraries of many books in 1 single module, but we are well over 1000 posts (1025), and some of these are multivolume works (with about a half dozen being announcements and such that are not books). Click more below to see the categories and types of files what we already have on this website. All of these files are regular books normally used in Christian libraries for the study of the Word of God, the Bible. If you are a Christian Bible student, or especially a Pastor, we have a lot of free online books for you. You download and install theWord program, and then each installer file from this site has one or more modules which the installer will find your installation and put it where it is supposed to be.
Please investigate and look over our offerings. Everything from this website is totally free. If you study the Bible and want good quality reference books for free, then hang around this site and explore what we have to offer…
Before you go (Read below)….

Did you realize that a typical Christian reference book can cost from $15 dollars to $150? You can literally save thousands and thousands of dollars by downloading these free books instead of purchasing them. You can donate to our cause (this website) by the donation area at right, but there is no compulsion or obligation to do so. I am the owner, and I welcome you to use everything you find here without making any donation if you don’t want to.
Below – What types of books are on this website.
Hang around a while….
In General
In general, I look for books that have some kind of spiritual impact on believers. I do not concentrate my efforts in books by groups or individuals that are cultists or heretics (although I might have some on the site for studying what these people say). I am a pastor and missionary in Mexico City, and quite frankly this site is not made for you, but for me and my ministry. I use it and the modules I upload here for me to find things which I preach about or write tracts and books in Spanish about. I am Fundamental Baptist, and my mindset is that I want books that exposit Scripture for me, or that gather Scripture references under some topic. I also look for motivational type books like devotionals. In general I like books that like to cite Scripture, and put a lot of Scripture references in them.
I also study Church History and try to find well-known, renown Christian authors to upload to this site. So I have a large vareity of books available, and if you send me suggestions of public domain books, I will try to locate them and upload them here.
Types of Books we offer:
General books, Commentaries, Bible Dictionaries, and different versions of the Bible.
Areas where we have books available:
(1) Systematic Theology – Any Christian library is only as good as its doctrine. Here you will find different persuasions of doctrine, everything from Calvinism, Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, Congregationalists, Lutherans, to Pentecostals, Arminians, and some that are so easily to classify. I don’t specifically exclude groups within mainstream Christianity as a rule, but rather prefer to have their works available, and compare one against another to see which matches what I know of the Bible better.
Go to the Systematic Theology Bookshelf (more specific theological bookshelves can be accessed through this main page).
(2) Devotional works and Biographies – We have a growing selection of devotional works and biographies of famous Christians. On our Missions Bookshelf page we also have a number of missionary biographies. Here’s a list of what we have so far…

Non-Hosted TheWord Modules
In a few cases, there are modules on the Internet that I cannot personally host. Below are links to them.
Stedman, Ray – Text Commentaries
1Tim 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.

Appreciate your effort. I am more interested in commentaries,
rather than self-improvement books. I am more interested in older,
well-known conservative works. Would love to see

The link in “How to use the TWImporter Utility” at the end of the page on Comparison between E-Sword & The Word is not working.
I am trying to migrate from E-Sword 9 to The Word and was trying to import modules, some paid, through TWImporter utility, but some of the modules are coming corrupted.
Please help.
Hi Anit, Okay you lost me on this one. I suppose you are referring to the page TheWord Importer Utility on my old website. I checked all the links and they seem okay. Can you be more specific about what link is not working? (Page and text of the link please).
Your migration from e-Sword 9 to theWord is going to have problems. That is because most all premium modules are encrypted, and from there it is difficult to impossible. Also e-Sword 9 version Bibles won’t convert using the TWImporter Utility.
Can I ask you to please try to convert everything, and whatever you are having problems with (Premium or not) to please write me directly at davidcox@davidcox.com.mx and I wil direct you what to do from there. I have some things that might help convert some stubborn modules. Besides that, I have a very large library of e-Sword and theWord modules, and it is simply not necessary to convert everything seeing I have already done it. Open a command window in the Start menu (the old DOS Window), navigate to the folder where your modules are, and type “dir /b /s > esmoduleslist.txt” Then “exit”. What this will do is send (redirect the output to a file) a directory listing to this file esmoduleslist.txt. The /b switch means bare listing, just filenames, and the /s means to go down into subfolders. If everything is in that folder you don’t need the /s switch. Now open the file with a word processor and delete all the modules already converted. Save it and send it to me, and I will see what is left to convert and try to help you if I can. If you just have a couple of files, just type in their names directly in the email to me. I cannot guarantee to convert every module, and some are poorly creaed and simply won’t convert, and some are miracles that they even show up in e-Sword at all.
Anybody else reading this that has the same problem please do the same, sending me an email, and I can tell you what the status of the module is. In most cases, of a public domain work or something I have permission to put into TheWord, your modules will go to the top of my to do list and they will be published on this website in the following days. Don’t give up. I will help if I can.
Thank you very much David for your very prompt and helpful reply. My apologies for confusing you about the link.
The link is in the last line “For more information on how to use this program, please go to How to use the TWImporter Utility.”of the web page “http://www.davidcox.com.mx/e-swordmodules/compareesword.html”
I tried it again just now and it returns “404 – Not Found
Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”
Since I was getting these corrupted files after conversion, I thought I was missing something and so wanted to learn more about using this tool.
Some of the files I have in eSword are also available as The Word modules on their site, but I wanted to save on my download limits hence thought of converting what I already have.
Now I think I will download what I need from The Word site and for the rest I will follow your instructions and send you the list soon.
Though I am still learning to get my way around in The Word, but this help and guidance that I have was certainly missing in eSword and the presence of the Help Manual for The Word is really great. Overall, my first impression corroborates your view of The Word being better than eSword.
Thanks again,
Anit
Hi Anit, Yes it was missing a folder in there. Amazing that the page was on the Internet 6-7 years and nobody caught it until now. It is now fixed. I am still in the process of moving my old website over to new websites, and until that process is finished (which looks to still take another 2-3 years), I don’t want to erase the old website. And as things go, I don’t have Frontpage, so I am hand editing in a text editor these frontpage created pages on the old website, and it is not very easy nor quick to fix things. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Find anything else like this, just jot me a comment and I will pick up on it.
Thank you very much David for the help, I could read and save the guidance page for the TWImporter utility now, butwonder whether it will be of help for eSword 9 that I use.
Instead of converting from eSword, I have downloaded the required modules from The Word Downloads site itself today, and have also sent you an email just now regarding the remaining modules that I need help with.
Sincerely,
Anit
David,
Thanks again for your wonderful work in making TheWord mods available. Some of us use the Logos mods ($$$) but still appreciate the extensive mods that you have graciously made available.
I would love to see more of the standard systematic theologies (anything Reformed, broad evangelical, or dispensational would be my choice).
I hope that more of your readers and users begin providing some financial support for all that you do. The worker IS worthy of his hire and it is nuts to expect you to keep doing all of this without any recompense.
Thanks Dennis. It would be wonderful if the people who download these modules would give a small gift even once or twice a year. I mean, each book is probably worth $20-30 (some a lot more) if you bought it from a bookstore, and I am providing these things free, and it appears we have few (200-300) users, but they are downloading most of the modules, so if you get 30-40 free books a week, every week, a small donation is not asking that much.
Actually I understand that many people who use this software and download my modules are people on fixed incomes, or low incomes, or simply are working a secular job to survive in this hard economy, and they cannot afford to purchase anything. There are people in third world countries that have a ridiculously small income and somehow survive. This was my situation (still is) for years, and I fully understand these people. I welcome donations, but it really makes me sad that I even mention anything when somebody who is on a small fixed income (and often handicapied) gives. Several people like that have given donations to me and written me. I am happy for the donation, but I am sad that rich churches and well-off Christians don’t respond very often, but the poor Christians seem to be main ones who send money. But that is the ministry it seems like. Being a missionary, I observe the same thing with my personal support. Those with a lot of money seem to always be wrapped up in themselves, and those with a heart to give to help others in need so very often have little resources, but just do it anyway.
I have 2 TheWord websites, one in English which I am now posting about 30 modules per week. The one in Spanish I barely put out 2-3 a week, and I have stretched of a month or so that I don’t put out anything. It is incomprehensible to me why the Mexican donations are 3-4x more frequent, and more generous than the English speaking website donations? Can’t understand it. But that is the way things are.
My personal view is that all that I do in these websites and my ministry, I am doing because I love the Lord. I want to be a blessing to the people of God, and my recompense will not be what any people here send me as a donation, but what my Lord says to me when I show up before Him. That is enough for me, and if nobody donates anything, that is just fine with me. No problem. If I was in this for the money, I would simply charge for each module like so many others do. My understanding of heaven and rewards for the Christian is that even a cup of water will be recompensed by our Lord, so if I can get 1% of all Christendom of my day to somehow be benefitted by my labors, that will be a lot of rewards. The Pulpit Commentary, that we have on the site, has been downloaded 1200 times so far, just that one commentary. I found a hard copy of it on Amazon for $833 dollars. That’s hitting right at a million dollars worth of Pulpit commentaries that the people of God got the benefit of but didn’t have to pay for (legally done at that). I think that is worth something in eternity.

We’ve had some interaction with hospitals in DF and found them to be good caring places.

Kelsie is doing better, but she is going to stay until Friday I think. Her intestines still aren’t working as they should yet. Actually she is in a clinic, which is like a hospital but run by one doctor, with other doctors coming and going as needed. It only has 3 beds, 2 doctor’s offices for examining patients, and an operating room, and a nursey. It has about 5 nurses, another 4 other personnel, and in the three days we have been there, 2 babies were delivered in the other two rooms. This is much less than a complete hospital, although they are not completely equipped for everything of course. But then again, the Mexican government are building public hospitals (for free medical care for the masses) all over the place it seems, and we have two near us, and these places are huge hospitals for here (3 stories with probably a couple of hundred beds), but they don’t have any equipment nor doctors. A couple of 3 doctors for a hospital this size is ridiculous. But the political party in power can claim that they have given the people so many new hospitals! It is pathetic when you see the expenditure of money on these buildings, (but a hospital needs qualified doctors and supplies, and an operating budget), and they ask the patients to buy everything that is needed in an operation because the hospital doesn’t have even the minimum of basic supplies. Of the two hospitals near us, one is open, but we have heard bad things about it (people being left in the hall to die, and they did, when they should have been taken to the emergency room), and the second one has been finished (the building) for going on three years, with staff present, but they are not open yet. They don’t have any patients.
I have been in a private hospital here, and even though they are pricey compared to other smaller hospitals, the care was excellent. I am not sure where the idea has been accepted that a medical treatment of a few hours (an operation) costs a couple of years of minimum wage from poor people to pay rich doctors. I think that the government should restrict prices. It is unacceptable to me that a man, even one who has studied years to be a good doctor, should take so much from people so poor. The minimum wage here is $2.50 dollars US per day, and a typical operation will run these same people $2,000 dollars or more. The surgeon will line up these operations 3-4 per day, he makes a lot of money for here. They have expensive cars, houses, etc. It doesn’t make sense. Public service is under the government, and today avarice seems to be the rule of thumb everywhere you look.
But all in all, I am very happy with this clinic that was recommended to us. The doctors are competent from what I can see, the place is clean, and the head doctor has doctor’s visits all during the day downstairs, and there is a second doctor from 8PM to 8AM that stays the night. At the nurses station, they use an old manual typewriter. Fine with me. Loud and noisy, but fine. Better that than charging the patients for a computer.
