Instructions for sending via Paypal

If you have a Paypal account, logon, then click on "Send money", and put my email (add "dcox" arroba "@" plus my website domain "davidcox.com.mx", and don't forget the "mx" at the end.) in the "To:" line. Choose USD - U.S: Dollars (Service/Other). You will not get a tax deductible receipt if you donate through Paypal, but it is better if your donation is a small amount anyway. We appreciate any and all emails and gifts of any size. Thanks!

If you wish to give a more substantial amount (say $25-$35 dollars or more) or you want a tax deductible receipt, send a check (U.S. dollars) to Orlando Bible Church (below), our home church.

Instructions for sending a Donation to the Cox's:

Instructions for sending a package to the Cox's:

Next planned Trip to Texas: March 2008 (Probably the first week of March)

Packages:   David Cox
                       Box 124
                       3201 S. Jackson Rd.
                       Pharr, TX 78577 U.S.A.

Why I prefer to receive packages at my Texas address: Please note that I have to pay import duty on packages sent to Mexico which is 50% of what you declare is the valid of the package. When it comes into Mexico with import due, I get a card in the mail, and from there I have to go to the airport to wait in long lines and pay the fee and get it out.

Please send me a letter to my Mexico address or an email telling me what was sent to Texas. Please include your zip code in that letter or email. At the post office, I only get the senders zip code to decide whether I want to receive it or refuse it. We have gotten packages with $50 import fee that were only diapers. It is difficult to know whether to pay it or refuse it with just a zip code to help me decide.  I go to Texas once or twice a year sometimes more.

Things that can safely be sent directly to our Mexico address: Books, cassette tapes, letters, things of no real commercial value. Things do get lost in the mail coming into Mexico. I have received packages that were opened (supposedly not by the Mexican Mail Service), so at times I don't even know if I got what was sent to me. It is always best to send an email first with what you are sending me, or to send it to the border and email me that something is there waiting for us. (Sometimes we can get other missionaries to bring things down for us.)

Packages:     David R. Cox
                     Apartado Postal 83-026
                     CP 13011 DF Mexico
                                        MEXICO

NOTE!!! It takes from 1 week to possibly several weeks for things to get into Mexico, and I will have to pay probably 30% of the value you place on the package (on the customs chit sheet). Since nobody will pay if it is lost, I prefer you putting "No commercial value" on packages.

Please note that it is difficult to get in contact with me at times.
Please plan several weeks or a month or two ahead if you want me to get you material.

Letters: You may use the Apartado 83-026 address above, but I check that PO Box about once every week or two. You may send it directly to our residence at this address. We check this almost daily.

Note: Please do not send packages or donations to this address! Our mail handlers pilfer our mail.

Instructions for sending an email to the Cox's:

Please note that getting an email to me is often difficult because of spam, and my spam filters. I am not sure of the problem, but people have complained that I have not responded to their emails and I never got them. If it is important, please make a return receipt request (you can do this through the email itself, or by just asking me to acknowledge receipt of the email within the email).

Email:    (fastest)

If you sent me emails and I didn't respond, I probably didn't get them or I didn't understand a response was desired. (Or they got lost in the hundreds of spam emails I get every day because I have a website.) Please note that I do not read anything that comes to me blank and an attached pdf or whatever file. I also usually do not read anything that does not make sense in the RE: line, or if that line is blank.

Check this page to see if you email got catch in my spam filter. WARNING - Some of these words in the following link may be offensive! Spam and keywords that will cause your email to be identified by me as SPAM (and deleted before I get a chance to read it):

Non-Offensive Spam filters: "Fifth Third Bank", Mortgage, sex, "as seen on national TV", "cash grant", "credit problems", loan, "university diploma", medication, pharmacy, "replica watches" prescription, casino, rolex, jackpot, drugs, pills, "Microsoft Office". If your email contains a spam filter key word I will never see your email, because it will get trashed at my server level. If you do not have a sensible Subject line, it may be get trashed anyway, because I don't read junk or blank emails in general. Everybody that writes me (people, supporters, churches, and real people wanting to talk or communicate with me) always get put on my white list, and after the first identification, they don't get thrown in the spam mail bin. BUT, what I don't read even the first time will not get to me a second time. I briefly scan the spam mail before deleting it, but if the name nor the subject line make any sense or ring any bells, it most probably will get trashed before I read it. Sometimes I will get between 200 and 1000 emails per every 2 days that I check my email. I cannot nor do I want to read each piece of trash I get. I will read everything from any real people that are interested in my ministry, asking me a question, making a comment, praying for me, etc. Please resend if I do not respond in a week or so. Also note that if you put NBC, CNN, ABC, FOX, etc in the subject line, it gets trashed.

Do not put "card or ecard" in the RE: or it will get trashed. If you wish to send me an attached file, please note that there are viruses out there that will try to clog all the internet by grabbing any file on your computer (even your delicate private stuff), and then sending it to everybody in your address book. Please put your name, my name, and what the attached file deals with in the email, or I will not open it. Usually if I do not know the person, I will bounce them back an email asking them if they sent me a file. (Usually the virus grabs a MS Word DOC file, and it has a Macro virus in it.)

Also just putting a (first) name on the subject line usually gets skipped over by me. If I personally know you (or your church or pastor), then that will work, otherwise not. Also if you attend one of my supporting churches, use your church name, or pastor's name in parentheses and it will get my attention (really anytime I see Baptist, Bible, or Church, in the subject line I read the email).

How to get through to me:

#1 Don't put any spam words in the subject line. (If you don't want to look through the offensive spam words, which are mostly sex or cuss words), then just make sure you don't have any in your email to me.

#2 Make sure your make your subject line clear and to the point. Make sure your email has a subject line (Re:). Don't leave it blank as that will normally get skipped over and deleted. Do not just put your name on the subject line, because if your name does not ring a bell at midnight after I have had a long day, your might get skipped over. I look at two things, the subject line and the email address. Anything I have seen before from people usually gets put on the white list. Putting my name, missionary or church is always sure to get me to read it. Putting my home church's name in the subject line (Ferndale Baptist Church), will always get it read.

#3 If you email me and don't get any response, please email my home church or one of my supporting churches and ask them to forward the email to me. Do not put a favorite quote, Bible verse or pity saying on the subject line because I have seen all these before on spam emails, and it means it is spam to me, (i.e. Delete do not read).

#4 Try putting FROM A SUPPORTER, or BROTHER COX, or TO MISSIONARY, or FROM CHURCH, or ABOUT YOUR MINISTRY in the RE line and I will most always separate that from the rest.

If you need to write me about something with one of the spam words, write it backwards like this, (read this backwards ycamrahp). It will get by my spam filters.

MSN Internet Chat (other similar set ups): Please note that I am busy, and personally I have decided to just not go that route. I had MSN Chat and turned it off because people started writing me every day and "chatting". If there is something important, fine, but it got to be a social thing where people felt obligated to say hi and talk because they saw me log on or online. After 20 minutes of talk about the weather, etc. (non-important things) I felt like I was just losing a lot of time for nothing. People were just "being socialable" but I was wasting their time and they were wasting mine. Over the past year or two I have had offers to join social networks and other online chat services (Yahoo, etc). I decline all of these. Send me an email and I will answer. If you need to have a conversation with me, then write me, and we can set up something, I will activate your chat service and deactivate afterward we have discussed the issue. If it is very important, call me.
