A commentary on the book of Job

This entry is part 10 of 25 in the series Commentaries OT Book

The Book of JOB
by E.W. Bullinger

The oldest lesson in the world, as seen in the Book of Job, is that man’s way is not necessarily God’s way. In this study, E. W. Bullinger shows how the perfect workmanship of God is exhibited in our lives, even in times of great adversity. This lesson is essential to enjoying peace with God for time and eternity.

Bullinger’s commentary on the most ancient book of the Bible offers insights into God’s work in our lives. The author also gives us a distinctive translation of the Book of Job with explanatory notes and follows the literary and critical style of the book. In addition, figures of speech and divine names and titles are given special attention. Every Bible student will find much practical help in this unique approach to the Book of Job. Things I Have Learned
Chapel Talks at Bob Jones University
by BOB JONES, D.D., LL.D.
Printed in the United States of America

This is a series of 20 chapel messages from evangelist Bob Jones Sr (Methodist), preached from the chapel platform of Bob Jones University.

(below is from the frontpiece of the book)

Thousands outside of the college walls will appreciate the reservoir of simple truths which streamed from the author’s personal experiences, while motivated by a deep personal interest in his students’ spiritual welfare.

The author is the Founder of the university which bears his name – and which, standing without apology for the old faith and for the absolute authority of the Bible, is enjoying unprecedented blessing from God.

Billy Sunday said, “Bob Jones has the wit of Sam Jones, the homely philosophy of George Stuart, the eloquence of Sam Small, and the spiritual fervency of Dwight L. Moody.”

Dr. Jones was licensed to preach at the age of fifteen. He has held evangelistic meetings in practically every state in the Union and a number of foreign lands.

He is the founder of Bob Jones University located at Greenville, South Carolina. This institution is nondenominational, so-educational, orthodox, and Christian. Bob Jones University draws its students from all the states of the Union and a number of foreign countries and is the largest independent, fundamental, Christian, liberal arts university in the world.

Dr. Jones, now eighty-three and no longer able to be active as a pulpiteer, is editor and publisher of “The Fellowship News,” a national religious weekly. His “Comments on Here and Hereafter” are carried weekly by a large number of American newspapers; and he is the author of several books.

He has for a number of years broadcast gospel messages on many radio stations in the United States and around the world. Read the rest of this entry »
